About World Woods Golf Club - Pine Barrens (Brooksville, FL)
Intimidating. Enjoyable. These two words don't often go hand in hand, but they accurately describe the Pine Barrens course at World Woods. Ranked #26 on Golfweek's list of "America's Best Modern Courses for 2006," this Tom Fazio design has been receiving accolades since it opened in 1991. It's perennially ranked among the nation's top courses by Golf Digest and has been called "Florida's Pine Valley." The course features large fairways framed by expansive waste bunkers and towering pines (hence the comparisons to Pine Valley).

I LOVED THIS COURSE. What a great golf challenge. Some of the holes were unbelievable. MUST BE PLAYED MORE THAN ONCE to know where to play your ball.

The ride from Kissimmee is about 1 hour and 45 minutes so it is quite a haul. The practice putting green is truly remarkable although how much it generalizes to the actual course greens is debatable. This is the most visually stunning course I have ever played. The design of the holes and hazards, the vistas, the elevation changes, the forest feel of the place were so pleasing that each new hole was met with oohs and aahs by our group. I think the course plays easier than it looks as long as you can keep the ball straight and think strategically. Coming here makes for a long day but this is a unique, one of a kind public course.

This is one of the best course I have ever played period. The greens were as fast as any I have ever played anywhere. One of our guys (4 handicap) putted a ball into the lake on the third hole. A lot of four putts. We loved it!

Worth the drive from Orlando -- Clubhouse facilities were the minimum -- only one shower in the bathroom. But we liked the course -- the fastest greens we've ever played on a golf vacation...

AT FIRST THE STAFF SEEMED DETACHED AND BOTHERED A BIT, BUT THINGS GOT STRAIGHTENED OUT. THEY HAVE A HIGH VOLUME AND SEEMED TO BE A BIT REGIMENTED, BUT WE ENJOYED EVERYTHING AND WOULD PLAY AGAIN.

This is a real gem that not many know about. I actually hope it remains that way. This is a great great course (Pine Barrens) and the second course (Rolling Oaks) is better than most. The practice facilities are second to none. We look forward to playing this course when ever possible and always enjoy it. Pine Barrens may be the best course in Florida!

What a great experience. This is always our longetst day of our trip trying to play 36 holes. The staff does a great job getting us turned. The snack bar is a little slow, but if you tell them your "grabbing and going" they try to turn your order faster. Course is a great track and this year was the best of the last two we have played it.
